ABOUT ABOUT

--$10-- "One day after a frustrating call with my agent, I was completely defeated about my personal health insurance dramas. A discussion began... a piece began. As a dance & aerial company, we started in rehearsal asking ourselves how easy and/or difficult it was to care for ourselves as individuals. This moved into a series of simple movement explorations: like holding the weight of someone else's head, being held in a cocoon, in water, weightlessness, the smoosh of a finger to lips, the smoosh of a nose into a cheek, holding hands, etc.. Some really lovely images and reactions started to emerge, and the piece was born. We introduced paint and props in a preliminary photoshoot and we've been developing a kind of movement therapy and performance ever since. We included optional audience participation too, but don't be afraid! " - Amy Querin, director

Acts of Affordable Care is a movement exploration of our own human capacity and limitation towards caring for ourselves and caring for those around us. Throughout the dance, we explore & discover what is available/affordable {physically, emotionally} to care for ourselves and the other dancers in the piece. Parts of the show are based on an improvisational score, so each performance will be different and reveal the most organic reactions to our acts of affordable care.
