ABOUT ABOUT

Does the language you say "I love you" in change the way you love? Can heartbreak really kill you? Is that death, or is it Marvin Gaye? Can you teach me how to kiss? Cake, or more cake?

Mia Paschal -  who performed at the Rogue in 2007 and 2008 - returns with her latest solo show, "Heartbreak Velocity": a darkly sweet and sweetly sexy show about love, sex, and linguistics.

And cake! Layer, sheet, pan, birthday, cup, just one more slice of... yes, yes, yes.

Mia Paschal moved to San Francisco from Milan, Italy to study with Ed Hooks.

At Harvard, Mia studied acting with David Wheeler. In San Francisco, she has also studied with Bruce Williams and David Ford.

Her first solo show "some life", won the Best Female Solo Performance award at the San Francisco Fringe. Her next work, "This Lily Was (Fontana)", received the Best of the Fringe - Best Female Dramatic Solo Award at the 2006 SF Fringe, and was performed at the Marsh in San Francisco, as part of the Marsh Rising series, and at the 2007 Rogue Performance Festival, where the Fresno Bee selected it as a Top Five Pick of the Rogue.

Her third solo play, "Along the Path of Larks and Swallows", premiered at the 2008 Rogue Performance Festival and was chosen as a Top Ten Pick of the Rogue by the Fresno Bee.

In 2011 and 2012, Mia participated in the Marsh's Performance Initiative, where she was commissioned to write "My Soul for Rubies", "The Slaughterhouse Trapeze", and “Heartbreak Velocity”.

In 2013, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art commissioned her to write and perform a narrative piece, "My Jim Dine Valentine", inspired by Jim Dine's painting "Blue Clamp".

Also in 2013, the Oakland Museum of California commissioned her to write and give a reading of a short story about the famous Bay Area guardian, the Bay Bridge Troll.
