ABOUT ABOUT

Teatro Asamblea presents Elizabeth Started All the Trouble, a video-theatre production adapted from Doreen Rappaport’s book of the same name. The show follows Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucretia Mott, Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony and other American women in their quest for women’s right to vote and for gender equality.

The cast includes Alyssa Benitez, Emily Kearns, Kenia Morales, Arium Andrews, Jacob Gonzalez, and Cha Yang. Costumes by Alexis Mera-Diaz; Sound by Michael Shane Flores; Visuals by Rodolfo Robles-Cruz and, Video Editing by Karina Rodriguez. All are alumni or current students of Fresno State’s Department of Theatre and Dance.

This show was originally produced to celebrate 100 years of women's suffrage and was sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Fresno. A short-edited interview with author Doreen Rappaport will follow immediately after the show.

The production was filmed entirely over Zoom and was adapted and directed by Gina Sandi-Diaz. This is Teatro Asamblea’s first production.
