If you like a catchy tune and some snappy lyrics, this show will be right up your alley. Mike Alexander has been in love with music for as long as he can remember. His early influences including the Eagles, John Denver, Peter Paul and Mary, Chad Mitchell Trio, Kingston Trio, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, and especially Simon and Garfunkel. He wrote his first song at 13, and would develop a songwriting style that highlights storytelling and smart lyrics. Melody and harmonies make great songs work, but he’s not afraid to rock when the mood strikes. His band resume shows that range. Acoustic Highway, Featherbone, and Laurel Canyon reflect those early influences, while Tribe Called Mike, Juni Moon, and Chris Plays Guitar carried a musical bite. He’ll bring all those sensibilities to his Rogue performances. Along with his originals, you’ll hear him play songs by Paul Simon, Neil Finn, Sting, Paul McCartney, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, and songs by other exceptional songwriters that have influenced his art. You can expect to hear a song you don’t know but maybe deserves a listen and some sunlight.
