Rooms have memories. They live; they remember; they long. What if we gave rooms the space to tell us what they hold? Exploring the idea of longing, The Space Between embodies bringing life to these memories through physically demanding, chaotic movement. The performance marks the debut of Aleño Dance Project, a modern dance company based in Oakland founded by Alexandra Tiscareno. Aleño Dance Project aims to be at the forefront of body inclusivity and believes that every BODY is cherishable. This performance is a collaboration of Alexandra Tiscareno and Elijah Muñoz. Muñoz worked with Fresno Dance Collective from 2013-2017. He served as the resident choreographer for NOCO’s 2016 show “what the body remembers.” Currently, he is pursuing a BS in Software Engineering at Arizona State University. The Space Between marks Tiscareno’s return to Fresno. In 2018, Tiscareno moved to Oakland to pursue a BA in Dance from Mills College. Previously, she was the Artistic Director of Fresno Dance Collective’s 2017 season, creating Nothing is Beautiful, Everything is Fine. She is currently working towards her MFA in Dance at Saint Mary’s College of California.
